Spectrum Productions has many opportunities for individuals that want to give back to the community, gain a unique experience by mentoring budding artists with their creative endeavors.
We have different programs available for volunteers ranging from dedicated filmmaking and animation programs, summer camps to social programs. In all our opportunities you will learn support strategies and filmmaking skills in a warm, fun and unique organization.
We accept and review applications on a rolling basis, with most placements at the start of each term.

Programs are the lifeblood of our creative network and the variety of options provide in-roads for everyone to learn and practice filmmaking and have fun. If you have general support skills and want to make a positive impact, explore our programs to see where your skills might fit best.
PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION SKILL SHARING
IN SPECTRUM STUDIOS
Spectrum Studios houses our professional stream of production and if you have skills to share that will help us on set, or in the animation workflow we would love to hear about your experiences and you see this fitting best as a skill share, a talk about your professional work, or providing production support on a project.

CREATIVE PROGRAMS
CREATIVE
MEDIA LAB
The Creative Media Lab is our flagship program where participants learn all about the filmmaking experience through doing. Each semester we make a collaborative live action short film and an Animated short.
REQUIREMENTS
Age 18 years+
Location: Spectrum Productions Studio in Montreal, Quebec
Commitment Options:
General: 1 day a week for a term, Mon-Fri, 9h30-15h30 (65 hrs)
Guest Speaker: 1 day presentation (2-3 hrs)
Internship: 1 day a week for a term, Mon-Fri, 9h30-15h30 (120-150 hrs) *Matching University Program requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
Mentoring participants in the creation of film and media projects
Supporting technical tasks in studio
Ensuring participant engagement.
CANDIDATE PROFILE/REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and confidence in basic filmmaking, including using a DSLR camera, a sound recorder, and video editing software.
Specific program knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro, and bonus for After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator
Ability to guide others and teach skills pertaining to the filmmaking process
Strong interpersonal communication skills Proficiency in English.
BONUS ATTRIBUTES
Interest and/or experience with people on the autism spectrum
Experience with green screen shooting and special effects
Experience in animation (2D, 3D, stop-motion, etc.)
Bilingualism.
Upon completion you will receive a certificate of Wizard Donkey Status for completing 60 hours of volunteer work, two tickets to our Annual Gala at the Rialto Theatre.
SUMMER
CAMPS
Our summer camps are all about having fun making films!
We run 9 weeks of summer camps from June 16th to August 15th. The 9 weeks are broken up into 4 camps, each camp being 2 weeks long with one Advanced camp that runs for 3 weeks.
This is a great place to start for volunteering as it has a low time commitment and you get a full experience of what we do here at Spectrum. Be warned, you will have fun!
REQUIREMENTS
Age 18 years+
Location: Spectrum Productions Studio in Montreal, Quebec
Commitment: One day a week for 9 weeks, Mon-Fri, 9h30-15h30 (60 hrs)

SOCIAL
CLUB
Our Social Club program is exactly that! A place where Autistic and Neurodivergent people can come and hang out, play games, watch films, take part in fun activities and eat a meal prepared by Autistic chef Peter.
We don’t require any filmmaking experience for this program so its a perfect place to start if you just want to learn more about support strategies and making new friends.
REQUIREMENTS
Age 18 years+
Location: Spectrum Productions studio in Montreal, Quebec
Commitment: Attend social clubs Friday from 4pm - 8pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
Hang out, share interests, videos, songs, socialize, learn new skills, cook and eat with participants.
Help orient new participants
A great opportunity to get to know the people who are part of Spectrum. Fridays are adult social club age ranges 14+. A great opportunity for animating short, artistic activities and workshops.
